Fungi and bacteria co-cultivation
In collaboration with the VIB BioImaging Core in Ghent, the Metabolic Engineering Group (MEMO) at Ghent University has started testing promising co-cultivation set-ups of bacteria and fungi. The interaction and organisation of both micro-organisms has been examined, leading to some impressive images.
These images provide essential insight into co-cultivation dynamics and contribute to forming the basis for modelling activities by partner KADK, who is investigating material growth and mechanical properties, and partner UWE, who is investigating the computational properties of networks and co-cultivation interactions.
